NGEKE FESTIVAL – ANTI-CORRUPTION YOUTH CONTENT FILM
As part of the Enhancing Accountability Programme (EAP), implemented through the Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) and funded by the European Union, Iron Heart was commissioned to produce a dynamic content film capturing the Ngeke Festival — a youth-led anti-corruption movement using music, art and culture to stand up for integrity and accountability.
Held on 6 December 2025 at Constitution Hill, the festival aligned with the global Fair Play Anti-Corruption Youth Voices programme, supported by UNESCO. The initiative empowers young people to use creative expression to challenge corruption and advocate for ethical leadership.
In 2025, South African artists Xtreem Makhayeni and Onset Music Group were named among the global winners, bringing their message home to a local audience. Alongside them, youth ambassadors, activists and established performers including Zoë Modiga and BCUC took to the stage in a powerful expression of unity, resistance and hope.
At the heart of the event was the Ngeke Pledge — a call for young people to speak out against corruption, refuse to participate in it, and stand together in building a more accountable future. This transformed the festival from a music event into something far more meaningful: a platform for action.
As a content creation studio specialising in social impact storytelling and governance communication, Iron Heart set out to authentically capture the spirit of the day. Through interviews with artists, youth ambassadors and attendees, and narration by activist and MC Lerai, the film reflects the urgency, optimism and agency of a generation determined to shape its own future.
Shot on the Ronin 4D, the film immerses viewers in the experience, from high-energy performances to quieter, powerful moments of reflection, making you feel like you were there.
This is not just a festival film. It’s a story of youth resilience, creative resistance and collective action — proof that culture can be a catalyst for real change.
