THE FRONTLINE

We created this content campaign for the Centre for Analytics and Behavioural Change (CABC) to help counter Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy across sub-Saharan Africa. At the time, CABC’s research revealed that trust in both private and public health institutions was at an all-time low. Conspiracy theories, misinformation, and fear were spreading faster than reliable information, and official messaging often felt disconnected or out of touch with the human experience.

To bridge that gap, we turned to the people who held real credibility: frontline nurses. These were the healthcare heroes who had seen the devastation of the pandemic up close and personal. We recruited Covid-19 ward nurses to share their personal experiences working through the height of the pandemic. Their candid, emotive, and heartfelt accounts not only humanised the crisis but also delivered vital public health information in a way that was accessible, relatable, and deeply authentic.

Importantly, the videos were intentionally unbranded. This strategic decision meant that the content could be shared widely by any organisation—from NGOs and local clinics to corporates and community centres. It empowered other public health communicators to use trustworthy content in their own campaigns, training programmes, and workplace communications.

The videos were hosted on a Facebook page we developed called “The Healthy African Project”. This platform served as a digital hub for fact-checked health news, updates, and community dialogue. At a time when uncertainty, fear, and fatigue were rampant, it became a trusted voice amidst the clutter.

From a content creation and social marketing perspective, this campaign underscored the power of real human storytelling in health communication. It showed that professional videography, paired with emotionally resonant storytelling and distribution via digital platforms, could cut through noise and mis- and disinformation.

For us as a content creation studio focused on purpose-led storytelling, the project was a powerful reminder of what can happen when strategy, insight, and empathy come together. The campaign helped shift perceptions, build trust, and most importantly, empower communities with the information they needed to protect themselves and their families.

It is campaigns like these that define the kind of meaningful, impact-driven work we strive to create at Iron Heart.
